A Clinical Study of the Hepatotoxicity of Antituberculous Agents

Abstract
To evaluate hepatotoxicity of antituberculous agentsin61 tuberculous patients, I had clincal observation retrospectively and obtained following results.
1) Male to female ratio was 1.2:1, and mean age was 36.5 years.
2) Patients took more tan two antituberculous drugs, so that definite drug of hepatotoxicity could not be determined.
3) hepatotoxic reaction occurred between 6 days and 6 months, and this reaction occurred within 30 days in 43 cases.
4) Serum transaminase was increased in all cases, serum alkaline phosphatase was increased in 42%, serum bilirubin was increased above 2.0mg/dl in 23 cases(37.7%). In 47 cases serum transaminase was increased below 3 folds, only in 5 cases it
was
increased above 10 folds.
5) Readministration of INH, RIF, PZA were successful in 85.2%, 90.1%, 61.8% of patients respectively.
